Get ready to discover gigantic metal sculptures amongst an enchanting desert landscape with our Borrego Springs Metal Sculptures Scavenger Hunt. We’ve selected 25 of the 130+ sculptures scattered throughout Borrego Springs and put together this seek-and-find adventure activity. These captivating works of art were created by renowned sculptor Ricardo Breceda.

Many of the sculptures are creatures dating back to prehistoric times, while others are animals that still roam the planet today. Be on the look out for tapiers, raptors, peccaries, sabertooth cats, mammoths, llamas, elephants, and so many more, including a 12-foot tall tennis ball and a 350-foot-long serpent with the head of a Chinese dragon and the tail of a rattlesnake.

Getting to the various sculptures will require a little bit of off-road driving that typically doesn’t require 4WD. We wouldn’t recommend chancing it in a low-profile vehicle, but most regular sedans shouldn’t have a problem, so long as the ground is dry. The largest concentration of Breceda’s masterpieces can be found along Borrego Springs Road between Palm Canyon Drive and Henderson Canyon Road. There’s also a collection of sculptures off of Big Horn Road and down near Anzio Drive, as you head toward the Slot Canyon hike in Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
